Exercise Sessions

Is your horse having tailored support to stay injury free or for rehabilitation ?

Standard 6-week rehabilitation plans often fall short because they fail to account for your horse being unique. Horses recover at different rates, and injuries can be complicated with compensations lingering. A rigid timeline may push horses too quickly, risking setbacks or incomplete healing. Additionally, mental and emotional factors play a significant role in recovery, and setting you both up to succeed is my aim.

Exercise prescription is specific, controlled and progressive. Through these sessions you will learn more about your horses capabilities and be able to progress faster and reduce further risks of injury

What I offer ?

The exercise sessions can be useful for all levels or abilities. The sessions are flexible and specific to you to ensure you get the support you require when improving performance or rehabilitating injuries. The sessions can involve the following:

  • Long Reining: Exercising your horse from the ground is a powerful tool to have. This allows for full freedom without the weight of a rider. Long reining can be beneficial for rehabilitating horses, improving core strength, and teaching correct movement patterns. I can do sessions for you or teach you how to do this with your horse.
  • Lunging: Learn how to lunge in a therapeutic manner with tailored support. Lunging places asymmetrical forces on horses backs and limbs and so is not suitable in all rehabilitation cases but can be useful to build flexibility and strength later in the process.
  • Pole-work Sessions: Pole work is fantastic for enhancing coordination, strengthening muscles, and improving joint health. Pole work can also be incorporated into rehabilitation programs to restore muscle function post-injury. Learn why we use poles, how to set them up for your goals and know when to progress.
  • Ridden Sessions: Incorporating physiotherapeutic exercises into ridden work is a game changer. Different to usual ridden lessons, these sessions are all about your horses biomechanics. Ridden sessions help to reinforce correct posture, balance, and muscle engagement while also providing a controlled way to challenge and assess your horse’s physical capabilities. These sessions will ensure your horse is performing at their best while also addressing any physical concerns or limitations.
  • Clinics – If there are more than 3 of you wanting to book in, why not get in touch and arrange a clinic ? I offer pole-work or flat-work clinics and also do lectures and educational events.
