How does Kinesiology Tape (K-Tape) work?

Kinesiology Tape (K-Tape) is also known as sports tape. It can be used to support other physiotherapy techniques and may be used in your session. K-tape can be applied in various shapes and stretch variations to support rehabilitation. It mimics the skins elasticity so it supports without hindering normal mobility.

What can K-Tape help with?

  • Muscle soreness and strain – K-tape applied over muscles or joints can support function without limiting their range of motion. This makes it ideal when recovering from injury, as it helps re-educate movement patterns.
  • Inflammation and Pain – When applied in a lattice pattern, k-tape can aid lymphatic drainage and remove bruising or swelling from injury sites.
  • Neurological input– Tape can be used to add neurological input to the skin. As the animal moves the tape activates skin receptors and wakes up the brain to that area of the body.
  • Continued effects – Applying the tape after physiotherapy can help keep the benefits for longer. The tape can be used to massage the area or aid posture and stability.
